The current Director of Education Standards at the Ministry of Education and Sports, Republic of Uganda, has dedicated decades to advancing the nation’s education system. Appointed to this role in 2017, she earned the promotion after serving as Commissioner in charge of Secondary Education Standards for 13 years. Her leadership in these pivotal roles has significantly shaped education policy and standards at the national level.
Before joining the Ministry, she had an illustrious career in education spanning teaching, administration, and academia. She began her journey as a teacher of Chemistry and Mathematics at Bweranyangi GSSS, where she also served as Head of the Chemistry Department (1982–1984). She went on to become the Headmistress of Kinyasano Girls High School (1984–1987), fostering academic and personal growth among her students.
Her passion for teaching extended into higher education, where she served as a Senior Lecturer/Tutor at the National Teachers College Kabale from 1987 to 2004. During this time, she also contributed as a part-time lecturer in Human Resource Management at Bishop Barham University College of Uganda Christian University (2000–2004). In addition to her teaching roles, she supervised undergraduate research projects at Makerere University (1999–2002) and Bishop Barham University College (2003–2005), further enhancing her influence on the next generation of educators and professionals.
Beyond teaching, she has contributed to academic scholarship through peer-reviewed publications and the review of research papers. Her body of work demonstrates a deep commitment to academic excellence and policy implementation, making her a respected figure in Uganda’s educational landscape.
