Prof. Hamed Habib Said is a distinguished medical professional with a career spanning over four decades, marked by a steadfast commitment to excellence in pediatrics and medical education. A graduate of King Abdulaziz University (KAU), Jeddah, where he earned his MB & Ch.B in 1986, Prof. Hamed embarked on an illustrious journey of professional and academic accomplishments.
Prof. Hamed further honed his expertise with a Diploma in Child Health (DCH) from the University of Edinburgh in 1991, followed by a Membership of the Royal College of Physicians (MRCP UK) the same year. His dedication to pediatrics led to earning the Arab Board of Pediatrics certification in 1992 and subsequent fellowships from the Royal College of Pediatrics and Child Health (FRCPCH) in 1998 and the Royal College of Physicians (FRCP UK) in 2007.
He has been a cornerstone of the pediatric faculty at King Abdulaziz University, rising through the ranks from Assistant Professor in 2002 to full Professor in 2015. He has concurrently served as a Consultant Pediatrician at King Abdulaziz University Hospital since 1994, bringing expertise, innovation, and compassion to pediatric care.
Prof. Hamed has held pivotal leadership roles within KAU and beyond. He served as the Dean of Rabigh College of Medicine (2008–2014) and as Vice Dean and Hospital Director of KAUH from 2010 to 2012. Earlier roles included Medical Director and Deputy Hospital Director at KAUH, where he streamlined medical services and enhanced patient care. His contributions extend to private healthcare, having served as General Director of Makka Medical Center from 1997 to 1999. He also held roles such as Director General of King Abdulaziz University Medical Center and the Private Section of KAUH, showcasing his administrative acumen.
Since 2015, Prof. Hamed has been a Senior Consultant for Princess Nourah University, in addition to his professorship. He remains deeply involved in pediatrics, mentoring young medical professionals and contributing to research.
