In a bid to enhance academic visibility and research collaboration, Equator University of Science and Technology (EQUSaT) hosted a staff training session focused on Google Scholar and ResearchGate.
The session, held on October 31, 2024, at the university campus, was organized by the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Muhamad Mpezamihigo, and conducted by Ibrahim Kamoga, the Systems Administrator, as part of the ongoing efforts to strengthen the university's research profile.
During the training, staff were guided through the process of registering on these global research platforms and were introduced to best practices for managing and showcasing their academic work. Google Scholar, widely regarded for indexing scholarly articles, and ResearchGate, a platform for professional networking among researchers, provide essential tools for modern academia.
Prof. Mpezamihigo, in his remarks, emphasized the importance of integrating technology into academic and research activities.
“As EQUSaT continues to grow, we must align with global standards by adopting platforms that amplify the visibility of our scholarly contributions. This training marks the beginning of a more tech-savvy research culture at the university,” he noted.
The training was interactive, with staff members actively engaging in practical demonstrations of account creation and profile optimization. By the end of the session, many expressed excitement about the opportunities these platforms present for knowledge sharing and collaboration.
