Asad is a highly experienced and accomplished Partner in KPMG East Africa's audit practice. Having joined KPMG Uganda in 2001, he has amassed over 19 years of audit expertise, including nine years in the United Kingdom. His professional journey reflects a blend of local and international experience across diverse sectors, including Banking, Insurance, Telecom, Energy and Natural Resources, Private Equity, Pension and Fund Management, Consumer and Industrial Markets, and Development Aid.
Asad holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from Makerere University Business School and a Master’s degree in Wealth Management from the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investments in the United Kingdom. He is also a Fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (FCCA) and a member of the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Uganda and Rwanda.
Throughout his career, Asad has led numerous high-profile audit engagements for both local and international clients. His portfolio includes notable organizations such as NSSF, UMEME, Uganda Securities Exchange, Barclays Bank, Citibank, BAT, Sheraton Hotel, MOGAS, UNHCR, USAID, and the Ministry of Petroleum South Sudan. Internationally, Asad has audited prominent clients such as Jersey Electricity Co. Ltd, Triton Partners—a private equity fund managing €9 billion in assets—and companies involved in oil exploration in the Kurdistan Region.
Asad’s expertise extends beyond auditing to technical training and thought leadership. He has delivered training sessions for institutions such as the Jersey Funds Association, SG Hambros Bank (UK), Bank of Uganda, NSSF, National Bank of Rwanda, and the Ministry of Petroleum South Sudan. His contributions to the profession also include public economic and geopolitical analyses, particularly his commentary on national budgets.
