Isaac Lubega Kapalaga

This individual, a 62-year-old Ugandan citizen, is a dedicated family man with six children, and a seasoned professional with a diverse background in business, environmental conservation, and governance. They have been running a successful small-scale family commercial forestry enterprise since 1988, demonstrating a long-standing commitment to sustainable practices. Alongside this, they have invested modestly in real estate since 2001, showcasing their entrepreneurial mindset.

Their contributions extend beyond business into governance, particularly in the not-for-profit sector. Over the years, they have been deeply involved in several important institutions. From 2003 to 2009, they served in various roles in secondary educational institutions, contributing to shaping the education landscape. Between 2009 and 2015, they were part of the Environmental Conservation Trust of Uganda, furthering their commitment to environmental sustainability. Since 2017, they have been engaged with the Uganda Timber Growers Association, and since 2019, they have played a significant role in the Emirates Vocational & Technical Institute and the Appointments Committee of the Islamic University in Uganda.

In addition to their governance work, they have participated in several high-profile forestry and development projects. Notably, they were part of a team that conducted a pre-investment study for a proposed large-scale agroforestry program at Sango Bay Estate in Uganda, a project spanning 50,000 hectares. Between 2006 and 2007, they contributed to the development of a Forestry Rehabilitation and Development program for the Government of Southern Sudan, working with the Joint Norwegian Forestry Group (NFG) and NFA. Their experience also includes being a part of the team that established and operated the National Tree Fund under the Forestry Inspection Division of the Ministry of Water & Environment in 2004, a significant step in Uganda's forestry development.

Their expertise has also been leveraged in institutional development, having facilitated support for the ECOTRUST, and being instrumental in developing a business proposal for a Wet Blue Tannery, a joint venture between M/s Siraj Enterprises (U) Ltd. and Euromarkint of Italy in 1999.

Through these varied roles and projects, they have demonstrated exceptional leadership and vision in environmental conservation, governance, and sustainable investment. Their work continues to make a significant impact on Uganda's forestry, education, and economic development.
