Building Wellbeing for Success in Higher Education

During the FAWE Extended Orientation Programme, Dr. Imelda Kemeza engaged students on Holistic Wellbeing in Higher Education, focusing on self-esteem, self-awareness and healthy boundaries.

She emphasised that setting boundaries, building confidence and practising self-advocacy are essential for success. Students were encouraged to understand their self-perception, recognise their worth and confidently make their presence and contributions count.

Her message was clear: show that you exist, make an impact, and protect your wellbeing along the way. Success can strengthen confidence, while setbacks may challenge it—but neither should define your sense of self.

The session reinforced an important lesson for university life: academic success matters, but so does the wellbeing that sustains it.

“Wellbeing is not a luxury; it is the foundation from which confidence, self-advocacy and meaningful success grow.”
— Dr. Imelda Kemeza
