Mouhamad Mpezamihigo

Current VC EQUSaT.

Former Vice Chancellor of KIU and has been in top University Management for more than 15 years, experienced in quality management and institutional transformation.

Born in Uganda, educated at Makerere University, Kampala Uganda (BSc Forestry and MSc Agriculture), and obtained his PhD at the University of Reading in the United Kingdom (Horticulture and Landscape Management) through a Science and Technology Merit Scholarship of the Islamic Development Bank.

He attained additional qualifications and training in University Management, Leadership and Governance, Quality Management, and partnerships and scientific collaborations. He is a pioneer Quality Assurance Coordinator trained under DAAD and the Inter University Council for East Africa (IUCEA).

He was Dean of the Faculty of Science, Vice Rector in Charge of Finance and Administration, and Vice Rector in Charge of Academic Affairs at the Islamic University in Uganda.

He served at Islamic University in Uganda for 11 continuous years. He was the Vice Chancellor of Kampala International University from 2015-2024, the largest, premier, and No. 1 private Comprehensive University in Uganda, 3rd best overall in Uganda out of more than 50 universities, with campuses in Uganda and Tanzania.

He has led robust transformational change at the University. He is an award winner of the Global Education Excellency Awards; Islamic Development Bank Award winner of Leadership Excellency; Uganda National Council for Higher Education Recognition Award in appreciation of dedicated service and exemplary contribution to the NCHE; Appreciation Award winner by Ecosystem Network Systems in recognition for having developed knowledge plus good character in generations, which has made a goal of a true Education, 2017/2018; several awards by the Association of Commonwealth Universities, UK.

He is Uganda’s Country Representative to the ISESCO Executive Council with headquarters in Rabat, Morocco, a non-fulltime assignment but critical for Uganda as a member state. He has served as Treasurer and member of the Executive Committee of the Uganda Vice Chancellors Forum.

He is the Founder and Director of Milestones Junior School, providing quality primary education for the needy and disadvantaged kids and offering employment opportunities.

He is very eloquent with excellent communication skills, and techno-ready with excellent computer skills and working with the Internet and social media platforms.

He is very community-oriented and focused on achieving success in any activity based on teamwork and good interpersonal relations with people of diverse backgrounds.

He has published journal articles, books, book chapters, and conference papers at national, regional, and international levels.
