MUMSA Delegation Engages EQUSaT Leadership on Partnerships, Networking and Student Development.
A delegation from the Makerere University Muslim Students’ Association (MUMSA) visited Equator University of Science and Technology (EQUSaT), as part of an external engagement aimed at strengthening partnerships, leadership networks and resource mobilisation ahead of the MUMSA Alumni Dinner.
The delegation, comprising 15 MUMSA Executive members and led by the Chairman, travelled to Masaka for an engagement with Professor Mouhamad Mpezamihigo, whose experience and professional networks within higher education and beyond provided an opportunity for meaningful dialogue and collaboration.
While the visit included discussions around support for the upcoming MUMSA Alumni Dinner scheduled for 19 September, the engagement went beyond fundraising. It provided an opportunity for the student leaders to learn from another university environment, exchange ideas and explore avenues for future institutional and student-led collaboration.
The delegation also had an opportunity to interact with EQUSaT leadership and gain exposure to the University's academic and institutional environment. Such engagements are important in equipping student leaders with broader perspectives on leadership, institutional development, networking and service.
For EQUSaT, engagements of this nature reflect the University's commitment to creating spaces where institutions, students and leaders can connect, share knowledge and build partnerships that contribute to society.
The visit also highlighted the role of faith-based student associations in promoting values of service, ethical leadership, knowledge and community engagement. Rooted in Islamic principles of seeking knowledge, supporting one another and contributing positively to society, such initiatives can build bridges that extend beyond religious and institutional boundaries.
Through constructive dialogue and mutual respect, university communities can create partnerships that bring together diverse experiences and perspectives for the common good.
The MUMSA engagement with EQUSaT therefore marked an opportunity to strengthen relationships between higher education communities while encouraging a culture of leadership, service, learning and collaboration.
As EQUSaT continues to pursue its vision of becoming a leading university for science and technology in Uganda and beyond, engagements that connect the University with students, institutions and professional networks remain an important part of Enabling Human Capacity.
